October 29th Church Update

Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Cor. 16:13-14)

These are among Paul's closing words in his letter to the church at Corinth. I pray these words encourage you today.

Just a couple of notes today.

  • We are worshiping in person on Thursday evenings (6:30p) and Sunday mornings (10a). The Sunday service is also live streamed on our Facebook page or you can go back and watch it at a later time. Worship certainly feels different in this pandemic but I hope you still find ways to take part. We need reminders of God's love and presence especially right now.

  • Next week, members and friends should be receiving a letter in the mail with our Spending Plan for 2021 and a letter inviting and encouraging those who are able to give in support of the church's ministry. Giving was strong early in the pandemic but has slowed in the last few months. At present we have about a $4000 deficit in our Current Account. I hope you will take time to read the mailing and prayerfully consider what you can do to support our church's ministry.

  • Vote. Election Day is Tuesday and if you have not already I hope you will make an effort to get your vote counted. This prayer was sent out by the United Church of Christ and I encourage you to use it in the coming days.

  • Loving God, we give thanks for our right to vote and know that the outcome of this and all elections affect our lives. We pray for healing for the divisions among us, patience as some of us wait hours to vote, and calm as we wait for the results of the election. Give us wisdom to make choices that benefit the least among us, and let us unite around the common good, mercy, and justice. May your love sustain us. Amen.

  • Finally, don't forget to set your clocks back Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end.

Stand firm in your faith, be strong, and let all you do be done in love!

Have a blessed weekend!

Peace,

Pastor Wayne
