Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. (John 14:27)
These are Jesus' words to his disciples during his final speech to them in John's gospel. I have relied upon those words quite a bit in the last week or so as my life has spun largely out of my control. It has not always been easy, but I have done my best to embrace God's promise of peace in my spirit. I invite you to do so, too.
First up, Isabel is improving and no one else is showing symptoms (hurrah!). Our quarantine ends on Sunday and we can resume this new thing called 'normal'. Thank you for all your prayers, cards, texts, emails and good thoughts. They have been greatly appreciated.
Worship will once again be all virtual this weekend. My hope is that Brenna and I will be live streaming from the sanctuary. If all remains well, we will resume in-person worship next Thursday and Sunday, October 11 indoors.
Because of the sudden change last week from in-person to virtual worship we really had no offering for the week and therefore no deposit. This has increased our deficit. While everything going on has changed our ministry I assure you the ministry is still going on. If you are able at this time to contribute and support the work of the church, please mail in an offering or take advantage of our Paypal link on the webpage or our Facebook page. I firmly believe we will finish strong in the last quarter of the year but we need your support!
Lastly, the United Church of Christ has started producing yard signs (below) that I think are neat. Would anyone be interested in getting one for your yard? I thought it would be a fun way to draw attention to our church. They are $12 plus shipping, so I figure $15 each. I would be happy to order a bunch. They come without stakes so we'd need to get some of those too unless you already have one. You can also order on your own from
Let me know.
Blessings to all. Take care. Stay safe. I hope you will join me Sunday for worship!
